Up Up and Away

image.jpg

Hey there everyone! I have been asked a lot of questions lately about my routine when flying with my boys. So, I wanted to share with you my tricks in hopes that they will help you!

First thing is first! Each Parent is aloud to check 1 car seat for FREE. So if we are traveling as a family, both of my boys seats are checked for free which is great! You will want to have a car seat travel bag to check it in so that it doesn't get torn up and dirty. We all know the airport is certainly NOT gentle on your luggage!

Most people think that traveling with a simple umbrella stroller is easiest but I actually disagree. Because I am lugging a LARGE carry-on full of treasures, I like to have my bigger stroller to store my bag underneath while we are strolling through the airport. Once you are boarding your flight, the gate agent will then "Pink Tag" your stroller and check it for you. It will be waiting on you when you get off of the flight at your destination. There is no charge for this.

image.jpg

I would always encourage you to choose a flight time that falls somewhere CLOSE TO NAPTIME! That is crucial! Neither of my guys fall asleep easily, so I have to make sure I have enough time at the gate to get my little dude down BEFORE boarding. If you are traveling with more than one child I think it is imaprative to have the youngest strapped to you! For me, its the Ergo… the Bjorn BREAKS MY BACK! It is such a tight squeeze on the plane tho and you will for sure need both hands.

image.jpg
(If I am on a long flight , I just let the attendant know that once it is safe and the seatbelt sign is off, that I may need to stand up and bounce/rock for a few minutes to get someone to sleep. Occasionally they will direct you to an area where there is a little bit more space to do that ☺️)

(If I am on a long flight , I just let the attendant know that once it is safe and the seatbelt sign is off, that I may need to stand up and bounce/rock for a few minutes to get someone to sleep. Occasionally they will direct you to an area where there is a little bit more space to do that ☺️)

So… Here is a little peak inside my Carry-On Bag

For Brooks ( My 3 1/2 Year old)

* The iPad. Make sure you download some movies or apps that do not require wifi. You can pay for wifi on the airplane, but it is just one extra thing you have to fiddle around working on, searching for your credit card to pay, etc. Definitely not worth it in my opinion.  His baseball headphones are already plugged in and ready to use with this so that he isn't disturbing anyone else.

* a sticker book, a coloring book with just a few crayons in a plastic baggy, and 2 hot wheels cars, because those are his favorite things in the world right now.

 * I am loaded down with our favorite snacks, as well as prepped with a hidden cookie and a couple pieces of candy in case there is a chance of a total meltdown for some reason. Always important to have a "bribe" in your arsonal for very public appearances 😜.  Also a sucker is a great thing to have if your little one starts crying saying their ears are hurting. The sucking helps pop their ears in additional to just being AWESOME to kids.

Bradley ( my 10 month old )

* I make sure that he has a pacifier to suck on during take off and landing, one light up toy, and a small wooden spoon to chew on since his little teeth are a source of never ending pain for him. He was easily preoccupied with all of these options until he started being on the move 😳. Now he is a little wiggle worm so I have to be singing him a song and letting him interact by helping him clap his hands if I want him to sit still. Some times if Brother will share his iPad that helps too.

Side note. I always pack both boys a cup with a lid on it in my carry on. Once you go through security, go ahead and purchase a water or apple juice, or drink of your choice and have ready to go in their cups. Waiting on the flight attendant to bring a drink is a sure bet for disaster 😜. It will be spilled all over you and the kids within minutes.

image.jpg

So this is a little clip of what it looks like to travel with me and the boys😉. I do want to point out that this is my experience based on flying with Delta or American Airlines. Definitely looks over other Airline websites to double check their policy for car seats and strollers. I hope this helps you and you're little travelers.  Please feel free to ask any other questions that I may not have mentioned.

Hope you're having a great week!

Who doesn't love a good SALE ?!🇺🇸

Happy July 4th weekend everyone!!

image.jpg

I wanted to share with you a few great deals that are going on this weekend from some of my favorites websites to watch.

Below are my top picks from Loft's 50% off sale. When it comes to buying pieces that are priced GREAT, (like some times too great 😉), you have to be very caustious of the QUALITY. Loft is awesome in the sense that they offer very current and fun items, but occasionally the quality isn't the best. As much as I usually LOVE everything online, sometimes once it arrives I have to let certain pieces go because let's face it, sometimes things really are too good to be true 😜. But these below I can totally vouge for 👌🏻.

I wore this Off The Shoulder Romper   just this past week and got 100 compliments!! It was sold out but JUST RESTOCKED!!

Lace Up Heel     This style shoe has been all the rage this season! I ordered this in a blush color a while back and they are not only adorable but very easy to chase a three year old in 😉.

JCrew is doing 40% summer looks and these little gingham shorts are a must have!!  You could easily pair these back to the peplum tank or blush flutter sleeve tops from The Loft.

Dee Keller has really grown to be one of my very favorite recommendations for shoes. Two of my favorite styles are 40% this weekend.

I have this sandal in a natural version (as do several of my clients), and they are a no brainer!

 The Audrey Flat

The Audrey Flat

And these are just beautiful! I bought these for two lucky clients this season and I love the versatility of them. You can dress them up or down and the verdict is, they are very comfortable.

The MEL Heel I do feel like her shoes run about a half a size too small, so if your in between sizes, order up!

As if could love Reece Witherspoon anymore... I just adore her fun clothing and home accent line, Draper James. These two little numbers are on sale 60% off this weekend. I'm having a very difficult time not ordering for myself 😜.

  This Bow Blouse 😍😍😍

If you're able to get out and shop over this long weekend, or spend some time online, there are definitely lots of deals to take advantage of.  These were just a few of my favorite finds that I wanted to pass along to you!! I hope you get to enjoy a fun weekend with the people you love!! Happy Independance Day! 🙌🏻🇺🇸🙌🏻

Simple Style

Hey there!! I hope everyone's week is off to a great start. Wanted to share 4 keys to getting dressed quickly with you today. I shared this blog post on The Cold Coffee Blog a couple of weeks ago but I felt like you might want to read it too! I honestly find these to be so helpful. I would love to know if you do too, so please, let me know 😘.

image.jpg

Key 1: PICK YOUR CLOTHES OUT AHEAD OF TIME! I think this is crucial to you getting ready in a hurry! Before the start of your week, look over your calendar and see what you have planned. I usually pick five looks. Three that are for runnning errands, play dates, delivering to clients, etc. One that is little more fun for a dinner out with my family or friends. And one for church on Sunday! I can fill in the gaps if I need to for the additional two days of the week, but generally I end up wearing work out clothes those days 😁

Now, here is the other important part of this key.

Wear. The. Outfit.

There is no time for you to waste in front of the mirror picking yourself apart, you have things to do 😜 Put the outfit on, and go! At the end of the day reflect on how you felt in it. Did you feel comfortable, did you receive any compliments, did you like the style/fit, or did you just not love it?  If the forth option is your answer, then toss it into a designated donate/sell pile and get rid of the pieces that don't make you feel very good. This will help you weed out the pieces in your closet that are just taking up space, as well as help set up your wardrobe to be only the things that you feel your best in. This whole process will  also give you have a better understanding of exactly what you NEED when you are shopping and in turn save you money 🙌🏻

Key 2: WEAR YOUR CLOTHES, Don't SAVE them! 😂 So many people will buy things they love yet stick them in the back of their closet to wait for the "perfect" occasion!! Don't do that 😜 Wear and enjoy the clothes that make you feel good because the "perfect" occasion will rarely arise, ( for a busy mom anyway).

Key 3: BUY QUALITY CLOTHING

I know, I know! Those budgets mess up everything 😜😂 It is hard to want to buy what is cute and in style, and not spend a fortune.

image.jpg

Here are my suggestions. Build your wardrobe around staple pieces! Invest your money in those things that will last for years. For "trendier" looks, don't spend too much as they wont last forever. Touch and feel the fabrics on pieces that you are interested in. If they are even the slightest bit flimsy do not buy them!! You can bet that after one wash they will never look the same and will be "one time wears" that only drain your pockets. Be wise about this and with purchasing styles that you know are the most flattering for you! And hey, if you struggle with this and really don't know what is the most flattering for your body type, please email me and I will gladly help you learn what you need to be looking for!

Key 4: Buy pieces that can be mixed and matched to make several outfits! Honestly Less is more in a closet and by purchasing enterchangable items you can give yourself several options. So many of my clients can only seeing ONE "outfit" with something they have purchased. When I split it up and show them all their options it's like I have performed some sort of magic trick 🎩🐇 TADAAAAHHH 💁🏼

Getting dressed should be easy and fun. If it isn't, please try applying theses keys above to help you! Below are just a few pictures of easy every day looks I throw on.

Who says moms can't match their boys 😜 No sense in the girl moms having all the fun!!   I love pairing a tennis skirt with my tshirts for our park dates! It has full coverage underneath so I can REALLY play, but it makes me feel more feminine and cute than a simple wind short.

Rompers are so fun and easy! You can very simply dress them up or down so they make for a good, functional piece in your wardrobe! This particular one is by Bella Dahl. The fabric is super soft and breathable.

These shorts are one of my favorites because they have an elastic waist band! Can't get more comfortable than that when your getting ready for a roller derby race 😂 I paired with this adorable, fluttered sleeve top that I would also throw on with a white jean, or a pencil skirt on Sunday morning for several other outfit options. The shorts are from JCREW factor y and the Top from the Loft.

I'm feeling a little lost (and silly) without one of my two side kicks in this photo! This is such a fun and easy summer look tho! I can dress it up or down depending on where I am going. It is lightweight and cozy and I have loved it.  It is by Matison Stone .

So whether your a busy Mom or just BUSY, you can get dressed quickly, look great, as well as eliminate those pieces just wasting space in your closet all at the same time!  🙌🏻

Have a great day today! XOXO

I'll try that...

Everyday when Brian comes home he asks Brooks the same question...

"Where you nice to your mom today?"

Side note: I never really knew what people were talking about with the "terrible two's". They just didn't seem so bad to me, but THREE... Now that's a doozy!! A friend of mine coined the tearm "THREENAGER", and that... well, THAT is a REAL THING! 😜.

Brooksy is a total THREENAGER! He is so so wonderful in so many ways, but he is one tough cookie on his momma! Anyway, he always spills the beans on himself when Brian comes in and asks him that question. I rarely have to say a word as he tells his dad the EXACT play by play of how he wasn't kind to mom. 😳 ( I'm usually thinking, " Dude, I would have left that part out 😜) At least he's honest!! I will give him that.

Tonight, after Brian had a talk with him in his room, I was brushing his hair and changing his clothes for us to go out for dinner. Here's how our conversation went.

"Mom, I love you!"

"I love you too Brooks!"

"Mom, why did I make you sad?"

"Well Brooks, instead of obeying Mommy, you push the limits until you have to be punished. But then after you are punished you obey mommy perfectly. It makes me so sad to have to punish you! I wish you could just obey without us having to argue about it. Mommy says "no" to things sometimes in order to protect you, not to be mean! "

"So if I obey I won't have to be punished?"

 "Yes, exactly!"

"Oh... I'll try that!"

😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

Man, it was all I could do to not bust out laughing at the fact that he's gonna "try" that, but honestly the entire conversation I was thinking to myself, "Wow, this is exactly how God feels!"

His daughter (me) who HE is so desperately trying to teach, guide, and protect is steady fighting for control! Control over a life that was never mine to begin with!

This was a sweet reminder to me tonight of how deep Gods love for me and YOU really is! Our need to fight back for control only hurts us, and HE allllwwwaaaayyyysss has our best interests!

I am so thankful for this little crew of mine. After dinner we treated Bradely to his first few licks of Menchies Frozen Yougurt, and it did not dissapoint ❤️👼🏼.

image.jpg

I had stumbled upon this little top on Intagram and immediately ordered because the price was so great! Being crazy as always, I forgot about it, but it finally arrived about 2 1/2 weeks later. I didn't realized that it was coming from CHINA, hence the long wait, but for 20 bucks I can hang tight!!

It is adorable but the fit is a little off. I needed a white tank underneath and wish I would have ordered a size small to give me a little more room in the chest. Over all tho, super cute for a fun, summer piece!

I hope you all have a blessed weekend! Try and stop fighting for control of your life 😉 God knows what your heart longs for because He made it!!

Tips for a Fit and Healthy Summer

image1.JPG

Hey sweet friends

image.jpg

I'm Kati from The Cold Coffee Blog, and I'm thrilled to be here on Savannah's super cute and trendy blog. There's just one problem... I'm no expert on cute and trendy. I bought my swimsuit from Kroger for goodness sake. Bet you didn't know Kroger sells swimsuits...

So why the heck am I here? Because Savannah said so, and she's the boss. But also, I'm here to tell you a bit about my fitness/nutrition journey and help get you headed on the right track to a healthy summer.

Between family barbecues, summer weddings, ballpark hot dogs, ice cream treats, and a fourth of July feast, summer can be a bit high in calories. Believe me, I was a summer calorie intaker for years. And I was good at it. It was delicious, but I was a bit fluffy.

I had had enough when I trained 18 WEEKS FOR A MARATHON AND DIDN'T SHED A POUND.

Not a single one...

Apparently you can't outrun a bad diet.

image.jpg
image.jpg
image.jpg

My weight and health controlled my life. If I ate bad, I was in a bad mood. If I was on a restrictive diet, I was tired and fatigued. I was insecure and uncomfortable in my clothes. I felt like a slave to the scale. I weighed myself everyday. What the scale said each morning affected the rest of my day.

image.jpg
image.jpg

I thought I was D.O.N.E. trying to lose the extra pounds until I saw my sister complete a program called 21 Day Fix and Shakeology. She was a part of a private challenge group on Facebook where other challengers rooted each other on, and coaches shared recipe ideas and tips to make your 21 Day Fix successful. I needed to hear more!

image.jpg

It all sounded great until she told me the price, and then I wanted to cry. (Remember, I bought my swim suit at Kroger?... for half off.. and then I had a coupon for another additional 15% off. I'm cheap. I own it.)

But then I figured out a few things I could give up to make it fit into our minister/stay-at-home-mom budget. No Starbucks, less eating out, less junk at the grocery store, and those low calorie freezer meals would be gone (they cost about the same price as a serving of Shakeology). I canceled my gym membership and those running shoes I was buying every 4 to 5 months to run for hours on end, for apparently no gosh darn reason, were no longer necessary due to the 30 minute workouts I was about to complete.

image.jpg

With the support of my awesome husband, I went for it. I was a bit skeptical, but 30 minute workouts at home sounded a lot better and reasonable for our busy family. And I needed a plan. Someone just tell me what to eat and what to do!

image.jpg
image.jpg

Fast forward 9 months later and here I am with a few 21 Day Fix rounds under my belt and the newest program, 22 Minute Hard Corps, completed! So here it is my friends. Proof in the product. Here are my before and after results:

14 pounds lost

17 inches gone

3 pant sizes down

Now, I'm blessed to be a fitness coach while helping others find balance between life and fitness/nutrition. We all are busy, so I want to help you find the right plan so you can spend less time obsessing and worried about your health and more time and energy with the ones you love.

If you are interested in grabbing your own 21 Day Fix + Shakeology Challenge pack you should know that they are on sale for the month of June! You can email me at thecoldcoffeeblog@gmail.com for more details!

So before I leave, I want to share with you 5 tips for making your summer fit and healthy:

image.jpg

Drink lots of water!

image.jpg

...and not to just combat the 100 degree weather, but to keep you full.

Listen, I used to be a Diet Dr. Pepper girl through and through. If I was in a bad mood, my husband handed me that cold crisp Diet Dr. P. But, that had to go. The carbonation, artificial sweeteners, and other yuck in sodas needed to be detoxed out of my body, and that was one of the first things to go when I started on this journey. However, I can not drink plain Jane water all day long. So, I've been adding different flavors to my water. In the morning I squeeze some lemon juice into my water. It's the first thing I take in each morning. Check out some of the benefits of lemon water...

Increase in brain function

Balances pH levels

Weight loss

Hydration

Effects your digestion and ability to absorb nutrients better

Benefits the liver

Boosts immune system

I also use these Crystal Light Pure packets to flavor my water once a day.  With no artificial sweeteners, preservatives, or flavors, this is a guilt free treat that will help keep you full before and after your meals.

image.jpg

Grab yourself a workout partner!

image.jpg

Accountability is key for me.

I try to get all my workouts done in the morning before my three sweet babies wake up. So, if my husband is pushing me out of bed or I know I'm completing a round of 21 Day Fix with my coaches and challengers, I am much more successful.

Find people who inspire you nutritionally as well. I definitely need someone to tell me to put the queso down every so often!!

image.jpg
image.jpg
image.jpg

Just because there is something to celebrate, doesn't mean you eat whatever you want.

image.jpg

I have people who think I'm crazy for not eating "just one cookie" at little Suzy's birthday party. But, what they don't understand is there is little Suzy's birthday bash today, little Johnny's pizza palooza tomorrow, and granny's 70th shin-dig the next day. Add a holiday or two within the month, and you have had WAY more than just "one cookie".

image.jpg

This is my secret weapon!

I make my Chocolate Vegan Shake and bring it with me to celebrations. It curbs my cravings and gets me full!

Meal Prep!

image.jpg

First off, let me tell you that when it comes to meal prepping, I don't go overboard. Some people like to make all their food, separate it all into containers, label, etc. all in a day or two. I do not do this. However, this works great for some people. If it works for you, do it.

image.jpg

Meal prepping for me is just cooking large amounts of food that I can grab and eat all week. I use my 21 Day Fix containers more as measuring cups than I do storage containers. It is also just about getting nutritious foods IN my home and ready to eat. I am more likely to eat my kids' waffles before I will go to the store last minute to buy brussel's sprouts. #reallife Always get your grocery shopping done before your crazy week starts!

Check out this post from my blog HERE to read more!

Get your workouts done in the morning!

image.jpg

Would I rather be sleeping in my comfy bed? Absolutely. But do I have three children and a husband that need my attention 90% of the day. Yep, I sure do!

By the time the kiddo's bedtime ‪at 8 PM‬ hits, my tired is tired. The odds of me working out when those cute little babies decide to snooze is like 347 to 2.

I have slowly fallen in love with morning workouts. I wake up, drink my preworkout Engergize (#momjuice), and get my 30 minute at-home workouts done! It's great to check it off the list and move on with my busy day. My endorphins are now kicking, my body continues to burn calories throughout the day, and I don't have to sit and think about how I have to workout when I get home from work or when the kids go to bed.

ONE LAST THING!

What in the Heck Am I Doing? Part 2

I'm so happy that so many people enjoyed my last post.  I was a little concerned that I had gotten a bit too passionate about all the "haters" out there, but one of our greatest duties is to love and encourage each another. Social Media actually makes it EASY to do that, yet so many people have found a way to use it to hurt others rather than build them up😣. Ughhh. Just makes me sad and incredibly frustrated.

Anyway, I want to get back to what spurred that post and the following....The question, "What in the heck am I doing?"

Ever heard that Satan likes to give you a good kicking when you're down? Well, he does. He likes to try and tell us a whole bunch of lies when we feel weak, but I am not falling for it!

I truly love what I do, Hearts of Style is a part of ME. I can't do as much as I used to do as a full time mom, but to let it go all together would be a heart breaker. I'm not going to lie, there are some days I think I can't keep it up. It's a lot. My husband, who does all of my accounting, casually let me know how much I made in the year 2015 the other night. After he said the number I paused and waited on him to start laughing... ( insert crickets) ...There wasn't any laughing. It was NOT a joke. 🙈

Let me be clear, I do not DO this and LOVE this for money. Not one bit. This is a ministry for me and one of the greatest ways that I can love on and encourage people! Obviously it is nice to feel like I bring SOMETHING to the table financially for my family, but the relationships this business has brought me are truly more valuable to me than gold!!

So there is work, and then there is motherhood. Oooohhhhhhh Motherhood. If it is not the greatest thing in the world paired with the "kick your butt" hardest thing in the world, I really don't know what is! These boys (all three) are my greatest gifts! I look at them every day and am in awe of how greatly God has blessed me!

image.jpg

But let's just be real for a second... Expecting my three year old and my 8 month old to be perfect little angels while I take them shopping, to work in closets,to entertain themselves while I invoice so that I can get paid, etc., is literally as crazy as me expecting to win the next Powerball 😜 Ain't Hap. pen. ing!!

image.jpg

Yes they are SO great a lot of the time and I push them pretty hard, but eventually they have to throw their hands up at me and fall apart.

"For goodness sake lady, just take us to the park already!!!" 👦🏼👶🏼

image.jpg
image.jpg

These are just a few of the thoughts and reasons that prompt that big, ugly, question above. Even though the majority of the time I have a slightly overwhelming feeling inside of me, I can't seem to let go of either passion!  I desperately want to be the one to watch every milestone my kids cross instead of reaching out for help and I desperately want to be the one to make my business a success buuuuuuttttt, i want a way to do that with two kids on my hips. Ha!! So...Can I really do both? Really??? I'm going to answer this shortly.

Side note, people ask me all the time why I don't blog more. I have about 5000 blogs posts written out in my head, but they have never found their way to this computer screen because I literally Cannot. Find. The. Time. Someone told me recently that I should watch a Netflix series while my kids napped!! Ummmmmm WHAT?? I'm sorry, but I seriously wanted to laugh in their face. It was all I could do to maintain my composure. Do people actually do this?? If you know me, than you know that I don't have kids that nap. Well actually, let's just be honest (AGAIN), I don't have kids that SLEEP!! 😜 They nap for a few minutes, wake up, we rock, and repeat! And then we try it ALLLLL again at bedtime. Could this be my fault? Probably, but we can dig into that in another blog post entirely. The point is, there is no extra time. 😁
No. Extra. Time, Yet my hearts still races thinking of all the great things I could do with  the future of Hearts of Style.  My heart still races thinking about "checking out" with my family of four and being done having children. Truth be told I seriously don't think my crazy mothering style can handle having another, but does it bring tears to my eyes to say that I am "done"? Yes it does. Does it bring tears to my eyes to not be able to take on new clients who reach out to me because I cannot give them the time they deserve. Yes it does!
It's a struggle! I want to make the most of EVERYTHING I have been given and worked hard for in my life! I don't want to settle for anything less than my best. I am just trying my hardest to except that this is a SEASON of my life where things are going to be a little "cray cray".😣
John 10:10 says, "The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came so that you may have life and have it abundantly!" A FULL and ABUNDANT LIFE! That is what God has promised and I want to wait in EXPECTANCY instead of hearing the lies that I "can't do" something!

So... As I recap back through all that I have written so far, I know the answer to my question. What in the heck am I doing?

I Am living.

Please hear me say this because I think it is soooo important and we all get so wrapped up in the silliness of these crazy, busy lives and the lies that satan tries to feed us.

I AM LIVING THE LIFE THAT I ONCE ONLY PRAYED FOR.

I am living it, in REAL time!! And that deserves celebration!! I am so thankful! So. Incredibly. Thankful. that I get to do ALLLLL the things I get to do whether they are sometimes hard, exhausting, or overwhelming. Every piece of my life has the potential to make me better and stronger or to take me down all together. And you can bet I am choosing refinement!

I am determined to keep growing this business, to keep volunteering for more than many think I can handle, to love people the way Christ loves me, to craft myself into oblivion for birthday parties and holidays, to Netflix binge with my husband at night when I should be sleeping, and to snuggle with my boys whenever possible! Alllll this, and more because I want to live my life to the FULLEST. Right now that means, there are no rules, no one I have to compare myself too, no lies to believe! I'm going to give everything I love my best, and I think that will be enough to make me proud to look back on someday!

Thanks for letting me shuffle through my thoughts and answer my own questions through venting to you 😉

What in the heck are YOU doing? 😜

What the heck am I doing? Part 1.

I am sure you have noticed a trend that I seem to save up all my Blog posting for when I am completely bursting with something to say. Today would be one of those "bursting" days. Just warning you 😜.

Some times I wonder, "What in the heck am I doing?" Despite my best intentions I really do not know what I am doing half the time other than WINGING IT!! Trying to juggle it all! I'm talking in regards to Life, Motherhood, Running a business, Everything! Just simply, What. Am. I. Doing?

I joked on Instagram last night with a picture that said "Today is cancelled." But a day like today was far more deserving of that t-shirt than yesterday was. I promise! 🙆 Because of that, I started thinking about all the Instagram haters out there (or whatever social media outlet you use).

Here's the deal, I love taking pictures. I love capturing moments that I want to remember. I love Instagram! A. I use it to promote my business, and B. I use it to document sweet moments with my boys!

Today, I was able to capture a moment worth remembering. Honestly, there were ten times the moments that occurred today that made my blood pressure shoot through the roof. All of which make this "happy" moment pictured even more precious to me.

I have heard it several different ways, 1. People are just BRAGGING on social media 2. Social Media makes other people feel insecure. Or better yet, 3. Insecure people NEED social Media to feel loved.

Not to mention we have all read blog post like, "Your perfect Facebook/Instagram life doesn't fool me", etc. To all of this ridiculousness I would like to say, GIVE. ME. A. BREAK 😳. I guess I just find it silly that anyone would look at someone else's social media feed and use it as a judge to decide whether someone's life is "easy" or "hard". Last time I checked, EVERYBODY HAS ISSUES. That's right,        E V E R Y B O D Y! I can promise you I do 🙋

To all the fashion bloggers who post selfies, to all the full times moms who take pride in sharing pictures of your kids, to everyone!! Yay to you for having a moment WORTH posting!! Yay to you for having a moment WORTH sharing with those who love you and enjoy following along as you document parts of your life.  I am cheering for you, other people are cheering for you, and for the people who are not cheering for you, Who. Stinking. Cares ? 😆 No one wants to see the moments of my day that absolutely STINK. I certainly do not want to relive them...Therefor I do not post them!  I am not trying portray a "picture perfect" life through my Instagram feed. Am I abundantly blessed? YES!! Which is why I'm documenting parts that make me smile!

The cold hard truth is I am one tired mom doing the best that I can in every area of my life while clinging to Gods promises that the BEST is yet to come! The moments when I don't have something spilled on my outfit or where both kids are happy in a photo are simply a happy moment to share. That's it.

My tangent on "Instagram haters" went on for too long so I will share the rest ofmy thoughts on another day in another post.  In the meantime, I will be liking, loving, going emoji CRAZY, on all those pictures that I follow because I want to be HAPPY for your "post-worthy" life! I am certain that behind the pictures you probably need Grace and Mercy, because let's face it, WE ALL DO!!

Xoxo

P.S. Please excuse any errors or typos. I am sorry if it's not perfect.

Am I happy about the moment captured above? You bet I am!

Mothers Day

image.jpg

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend, especially all the Moms out there! I have said it for three years in a row now, but I am especially grateful for my Mother now that I am a mother myself. There are soooo many things that I learned from her that I didn't know where AWESOME until now 😉.

My mom is definitely one in a million. Never met anyone else quite like her! She is a force of nature and when someone tries to hurt her babies, well.... You just better go find a goooood hiding spot! 😂😂😂

She is totally crazy about her kids and now grandkids! And what I used to think was FOR REAL crazy, now completely makes sense to me. My younger brother and I are 17 years apart, and as much as I adore him I get really aggravated at how he will respond to my mom sometimes. He thinks she's "over the top, over protective, and all up in his business, LOL" all things I know I once felt at some point! But now that I have these two little men in my life, it's as if my hearts walks around ALLLLL by itself on the road and I am just looking at it from behind praying someone doesn't step on it and crush it!!! 😳 I want to do everything in my power to keep my kids safe and protected from this crazy life, but I know there is a method to doing that appropriately. I don't want to do my boys a disservice for when they are in challenging situations, or make them scared to trust and to love people just because I KNOW that at some point someone will betray them or break their heart. 😩 I don't want them to live in fear of bad things happening, but live with confidence that God is with them wherever they go... even in the darkest times.  Even just writing those words brings tears to my eyes! I wish I could take any future hurt they may experience, but I can't. So, it's my job to teach them that no matter what life throws at them, they were meant for something SO MUCH BIGGER! Gods plans for them are so good and I am so anxious to see them all unfold.

That is something my mom always encouraged me to see. Your present circumstances don't define your future outcome! Whhooooo whhooooo Praise God for that! 🙌

My mom never took being a mother lightly. She truly considered it HER JOB 100% of the time. She was always honest with me, even when she made mistakes so that it would encourage me to do better. She gave it her very best trying to protect me from any unnecessary heart ache, (which was NOT always easy) But then she was always there for me to help me navigate hurt when it couldn't be avoided. In my mind my mom has always been one of the strongest and toughest people I know! I am pretty certain that image is in effort to protect me too, and I am grateful!!

Andy Stanley once said," Your greatest contribution to the Kingdom of God may not be something you do, but someone you raise!" My Mom has done a lot of good things worthy of recognition, but I think her greatest attribute by far is being a Mother who truly gave "mothering" her very best! I pray with all my heart that this can be true for me! I consider it such a privilege to get the opportunity to raise God fearing men that will pour life into people who need to see God's goodness!
