Now I will have this song stuck in my head for the rest of the day but hey!! Maybe it will be a good learning tool for you to remember the importance of this post ☺️
Even though the weather hasn't been cooperating, Spring Sprung with Hearts of Style about a month ago! We have been swamped with Closet Audits to get people ready to shop for some fun new pieces! I have noticed a theme as I am de-cluttering all these closets and that is that people are missing the BASICS!!!
So here is the deal! If you build a wardrobe around quality, classic, staples then you will always have options to dress for last minute occasions that pop up. But if you get too sucked in to the trends season to season you will be left confused and uncertain about what to put on. So! Get out a notepad or take a screen shot and make sure that you remember these My top 7 staples that I think a functioning wardrobe require!
1. A Great Black Pant- Choose a fit and style that is the most flattering for your body type! I personally prefer that most of my clients do a straight or tapered leg but for you taller ladies, a boot cut style might look better for you! I love Theory and I don't think you can ever go wrong with choosing any of their classic black pants!
2. A Crisp White Button Down-
Again, Theory is my go-to choice for this! No fuss. Just a simple, classic look.
3. A Black Pump and a Nude Pump-
There will rarely ever be an occasion where one of these choices won't be your go-to shoe! Try and choose a simple style that isn't leaning on the "trendy" side by either being too pointed or too round. Somewhere in between is perfect! Lk Bennet makes some of the most timeless pumps hands down!
4. A Day Dress
A classic sheath or tailored style that you can use for a Luncheon, Shower, or Garden Club meeting. I love Black Halo because they have such an elegance about them.
5. A Cocktail dress
There will always be a multitude of tendy and fun cocktail dresses to choose from but I want you to have something timeless that you can grab when you have a last minute event pop up! I know it seems unlikely that you wouldn't know well in advance that you have somewhere that dressy to go, but we all know that it can happen! Lela Rose is my all time favorite designer. It is worth the investment to have one of her dresses in your closet!
6. A straight leg Dark Wash Denim Jean
This is such a crucial piece to have. It can be as dressy or as casual as you want it to be because of the dark wash. I love James Jeans because they are a great fit for every body type!
7. A neutral clutch.
Accessories can add so much to an outfit. Having a fun envelop clutch to take to dinner instead of carrying your big hobo or cross body just adds a little flare to your overall look. Elaine Turner makes the best one in my option! You can actually fit more than your lip gloss inside 😜
I hope you find this post helpful and as always please feel free to comment or email me with any questions regarding these pieces pictured or anything else that may help provide you with easy fun facts to make your wardrobe more functional! Getting dressed should always be fun 😉 Have a great weekend!
